Walter Boyce biography in rallies
He competed in his first rally with his brother Harry as co-driver, in 1967, in their mother's Mercury Comet.
He made his debut in September 1969 in the national championship and competed in 21 events (with 10 wins) until March 1971. In 1972 his first Toyota is a Tezik model.
In 1973 he won the Press on Regardless Rally, a tough and prestigious rally held in Michigan, USA, a particularly tough rally, known for its mix of snow, mud, and rough roads, which tested both the endurance of the drivers and the reliability of their vehicles. Boyce, driving a Porsche 911, triumphed in this rally, overcoming fierce competition from drivers with much more international experience. This victory not only showcased his skill behind the wheel but also highlighted the potential for Canadian drivers to succeed in international rally competitions.
He is, until now, the only Canadian driver to ever win a WRC event (his last race in this championship was in 1986, at the Olympus Rally), and the North American driver with the most points in the WRC.
He remains the President of the Outaouais Valley Autosport Club.
