Antonio Fassina biography in rallies
Tony Fassina is an Italian former rally driver, multiple Italian and European rally champion in the 1970s and 1980s.
Winner of the 1979 Sanremo Rally in a Lancia Stratos (navigator Mauro Mannini) and a European championship in 1982 in an Opel Ascona 400 paired with Rudy Dal Pozzo.
From 1976 to 1981 he participated in five editions of the Rally d'Italia (always valid for the World Rally Championship and always coinciding with the Sanremo Rally), collecting one victory (1979), two thirds (1977 and 1981), one 4th place (1976) and one retirement (1980).[1]
Tony approached the world of racing after he and Alessandro Morosini bought an Alpine prepared by Morosini himself inside his workshop, Gialex.
The first race he participated in was the Piave Rally in 1969: he drove an Alfa 1750, and his co-driver was Tony De Marco.
